Watch Baby Whale Rescued By Fisherman In Peru [VIDEO]
Peruvian fishermen cut free a baby whale caught in one of their nets on July 25.
The whale had become entangled off the coast in the Northern Piura region, a location whales frequent from July to October to mate and raise their calves.
Local media reports the fishermen tried to free the whale from their nets with knives, but repeated attempts failed and the whale stopped struggling from exhaustion. Then they stopped fishing for two hours and finally managed to release the whale.
The group claims to have rescued three whales now from nets in the past ten days.
The local government of Piura has recognized the fishermen's heroic efforts.
