A Thailand airport baggage handler was arrested Thursday after a video emerged of him ruffling through the passengers' bags in the luggage compartment of a Jetstar flight bound for Singapore.

In the incident that happened Oct. 10 at Bay 15 at Phuket International Airport, CCTV cameras captured 27-year-old Abdullah Hayee Mayeh, an employee of third-party baggage handling company BAGS, unzipping bags while loading luggage onto the aircraft parked on the tarmac.

The Phuket Gazette reported Mayeh confessed to theft after police showed him the video. A Bluetooth speaker was recovered from him at the time of the arrest, which he turned in to the police so it could be returned to its owner.

According to the New York Daily News, Jetstar became aware of the incident after the video began circulating online and launched an investigation into the incident. "Jetstar is aware of a video circulating online and we are taking the matter very seriously," the airline said in a statement to news.com.au.

"We have launched an immediate investigation and will work with Airports of Thailand, our ground handler BAGS and our local security company to ensure the security of our customers' property onboard our flights," the statement further read.

The Daily Mail reported the operation to catch Mayeh red-handed was executed in collaboration with Tourism Police in an effort to stamp out aircraft luggage theft.

Airports of Thailand, the airport operator in Thailand that manages the operations of six international airports, including the Phuket International Airport, told the publication in a statement: "We have been coordinating this operation with Tourism Police and the concerned parties in the effort to stop such burglary in the aircraft compartment. We suspect that the video clip was released by one of ISS Security Staff Members, who is Jetstar's outsourced security agents."

"They have been warned of the release as well. As a result of this, AOT has arrested the offender and sent to Saku Police Station accordingly," it read.
