A theme park visitor in China was scolded and denied a photo-op by one of the site’s animatronics after he gave the robot the middle finger, a video showed.

The unidentified man was visiting Universal Beijing Resort, which opened Monday, when he approached an animatronic modeled on the character Megatron from the "Transformers" franchise, South China Morning Post reported.

Footage of the incident that has reportedly gone viral showed the man raising his middle finger at Megatron — known as the leader of the series' primary antagonists, the Decepticons — before he laughs and positions himself in front of the robot for a photo.

A park employee attempted to stop the man from doing the gesture.

Megatron, in response, pauses momentarily before scolding the man for his behavior, the video showed.

"Your gesture is too rude. Haven’t your father and mother taught you [to behave yourself]? Foolish rascal, foul human! Go away, I don’t want to take a picture with him," the robot leader, who was stationed at the theme park's Transformers Metrobase area, was quoted as saying in the clip.

The robot's response was not the result of the default artificial intelligence settings but was actually manipulated by the park’s employees, an anonymous client service member of staff said.

Megatron and the other robots usually automatically generate responses in their interactions with guests, including phrases borrowed from the "Transformers" series.

The animatronic had already gone viral on platforms such as Sina Weibo and TikTok even before the park officially opened due to its ability to interact with visitors, a report by Chinese state-run media outlet The Global Times said.

The guest will not be blacklisted as he did not break any of the theme park's rules, according to the resort. He did, however, receive backlash online.

"He didn’t think it was shameful but thought it was fun. He even laughed," a user on social media app WeChat wrote.

"He didn’t respect others. His face shouldn’t be blurred," another person commented.

Bad behavior at amusement parks in China is frequently uploaded to social media, SCMP noted. A 2019 incident at Shanghai Disneyland involved a male visitor pulling the ear of a bear character's head so forcefully that the actor had to stop his performance.
