  • These include the ability to help its users become healthier and more productive
  • The features are easy to use

Apple added a slew of new features and improvements to the Apple Watch experience via watchOS 7, the latest operating system for the health-centered wearable.

These improvements include new customization options, features allowing the Apple Watch to help users focus on their tasks and tweaks that will help users make the most of their health-centered device. Here's how to use some of them.

Eliminating Distractions

Apple added a new feature called Family Setup to watchOS 7. This feature lets users set up several Apple Watches so that they can give one to their kids, for example. The new feature also includes a handy feature called “Schooltime,” which helps to eliminate some distractions that would otherwise affect their kids' studies.

To use the feature, users should tap on the Edit button then press the green plus symbol on the Schooltime icon. The feature can be activated by accessing the Control Center, then tapping on the Schooltime icon.

To turn it off, users will only need to turn the Digital Crown and tap on Exit. The feature works like Do Not Disturb and turns the Apple Watch into a simple good-looking timepiece.

Changing Activity Goals

The new watchOS 7 lets users customize their activity goals, including even the stand goal. This allows for a more personalized health routine.

To do this, users will need to open the Activity app, then look for and tap on the new Change Goals option. It will open up a menu where users can change calorie, exercise and stand goals using nothing but the plus and minus buttons.

Turning Blood Oxygen Sensors Off For Sleep

The new Apple Watch Series 6, along with watchOS 7, allows users to check for blood oxygen levels. While the feature is helpful in getting a better look at one's overall health, the light sensors used in taking SpO2 can sometimes be distracting or annoying, especially when the feature gets activated in dark places or when one is asleep.

To turn this feature off, users can simply disable it when the device is set to Sleep Mode or Theater Mode, depending on what they are doing or where they are located. This can be done by opening Settings, going to Blood Oxygen, then turning the feature off in Sleep Mode or in Theater Mode.
