Wedding Crasher Thief Update: Texas Police Continue Search For Woman Stealing Gifts From Newlyweds
Police in Texas have begun a hunt for a serial wedding crasher who attends weddings and steals gifts.
The Comal County Sheriff’s Office announced the manhunt on their Crime Stoppers Facebook page for the robber dubbed “The Wedding Crasher.” The woman committing the thefts has been hitting weddings in New Braunfels, Texas, and surrounding areas, appearing at the celebration unannounced to swipe gifts.
“The Comal County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s assistance in identifying the Wedding Crasher before she strikes again,” police wrote on the Crime Stoppers page. “Let’s not let her ruin anyone else’s special day and bring this crasher to justice.”
Her reported targets have typically been gift cards and money intended to the new couple, though it’s unclear how much she has stolen while active.
The first reported theft occurred in December 2018, with the most recent being reported on Aug. 3. Police had also failed to identify the woman stealing from the newlyweds until recently, when she was caught on surveillance camera trying to pay for something with one of the gift cards she stole.
In an effort to locate and stop her quickly, the Comal County Sheriff’s Office is also offering a $4,000 reward for any information provided that leads to her arrest.
