The Weeknd spoke candidly about his guest appearance on TBS' “American Dad.”

The “Starboy” singer has been sharing a lot of teasers on Twitter about his stint in his favorite animated cartoon series, “American Dad.” For the first time, he opened up about the show and even talked about his favorite episodes.

“I’m a longtime fan of the show,” The Weeknd told Variety.

“I’ve been watching since high school but I really appreciated it about seven years ago. It’s been running for so long, and I feel like it has a real cult following. To really enjoy the show in its entirety you have to really know the characters.”

According to The Weeknd, he has three favorite episodes – “The ‘American Dad’ After School Special,” “Dope and Faith” and “The One That Got Away.” However, it was the latter that inspired him to write an episode.

The Weeknd is going to release a new song during his guest appearance on the show. He shared that he wanted to play a character that’s opposite of how the public would usually perceive him to be.

When writer-producer Joel Hurwitz gave him the opportunity to co-write an episode, he took advantage of it. Selena Gomez’s ex added that Hurwitz helped him execute it beautifully.

The “Blinding Lights” hitmaker added that he wanted to create different characters of him in alternate universes. He said there were not many challenges because the acting was straightforward. When he told Hurwitz that he wanted to do voices and he wished to challenge himself in that department, the latter gave it to him.

“He [Hurwitz] took me to the ‘Robot Chicken’ studio, where [executive producer-writer] Seth Green was waiting for me. I totally geeked out and he actually let me do multiple voices on an episode coming out soon. The cartoon nerd in me jumped out that day,” The Weeknd continued.

When asked for other shows or projects he’s interested in, The Weeknd said “American Dad” was everything he wanted. However, he admitted that his bucket list also includes working with another long-running animated sitcom, “The Simpsons.”

“That would be a dream — and if they’re reading this, I actually have a pretty cool idea if they’re down,” The Weeknd said.
