Lexi Reed has given fans some good news about her journey to recovery.
The 31-year-old weight loss influencer took to Instagram Monday to share a photo of herself smiling as she sat on a hospital bed as she revealed that she is "officially off of dialysis [and] port-free."
Reed said that she first began dialysis two months ago after suffering "complete kidney failure to the point they were saying I needed a transplant if they didn't improve."
"However, since my labs showed my kidneys were actually improving the last few times, my kidney doctor put my diaylsis [sic] on hold and ran more labs to make sure my kidney levels stayed in the normal range and told me it was time to stop the dialysis," she explained.
The influencer said she had her port removed Monday, adding that she was thankful "it hurt less" to remove it than wearing the port itself.
Reed went on to reflect on the "emotional experience" she's endured over the past several months, telling her 1.2 million followers that she was "grateful for all this body has done for me despite the good and bad times."
"I still have a long way to go in this new part of my journey with my health, struggles, and even some unanswered questions - but happy to still be going in the right direction after such a scare this year," she added.
Reed concluded her post by thanking everyone who sent her prayers and kind words, which she said helped during her recovery.
The social media personality was rushed to the emergency room on Jan. 20 after four days of being unable to keep any food down. At the hospital, Reed's blood sugar dropped and her organs started to fail, and doctors put her on a ventilator and in a medically induced coma.
She spent nearly a month in the hospital before she was able to return home. However, she was still unable to walk due to one leg being numb and swollen at the time. Before Monday, she was going to dialysis three times a week for three-and-a-half hours.
A GoFundMe page set up by her husband Danny in February to raise funds for Reed's medical expenses revealed that they were "waiting to find out about a kidney transplant as well as a liver transplant."
Reed's fans were happy and relieved to hear the good news. Some also asked whether or not she needed a liver transplant.
"So great they’ve sorted out your kidney, such a relief. You mentioned you also needed a liver transplant, where are you at with that?" one fan commented on Reed's post.
"Oh my god, this is such amazing news. I am so happy for you and your husband. Blessings to your wonderful doctors. Sending you even more prayers for a full recovery. I admire you and I wish you and your husband the best," another follower wrote.
"So super happy for this news!!!! Onward and upward!" a different user added.
"Thank God. I'm so happy to hear you're doing better!!" a fourth person commented.
Last month, Reed told People in an interview that her health scare "completely just did a 360" on her life, and it had been "hard" to mentally deal with the changes. The influencer also admitted that she worries about the "burden" she's putting on her husband, who has been by her side taking care of her.
However, Reed continued to stay positive amid her ordeal. "I'm just trying to keep my head up and think that it's going to get better," she said. "I want to use this as a way to show people that you can always come back from a setback, and no matter what happens to us, we can always fight through it and get to the other side."
