Some celebrity couples are easy to root for. Others, not so much. In 2014, the world saw a variety of celebrity hookups, a couple of A-list weddings and even a few new Hollywood romances, but not all of the couples were well-received by the public.

Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs

After being linked to everyone from pop star Katy Perry to model Dylan Penn, Pattinson, 28, settled down with singer/songwriter FKA Twigs (Tahliah Barnett) in August. The pair have kept most of the details of their romance private, but that hasn’t stopped fans of Pattinson’s former romance with his “Twilight” co-star, actress Kristen Stewart, from lashing out at his new British belle. Despite the posting of racist remarks on her Twitter page for dating the film star, Twigs, 26, said her romance with Pattinson was “worth it” in an interview with USA Today in November.

Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger

I’m sure Maria Shriver is thrilled about son Patrick’s romance with former Disney star and wild child, Miley Cyrus. The “We Can’t Stop” singer began dating Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 21-year-old son in early November. Just weeks after the duo went public and began sharing details of their relationship on social media, Life & Style magazine reported the 22-year-old songstress was pregnant by Schwarzenegger. Most recently, the tabloids have reported the pair are planning to tie the knot in a private commitment ceremony.

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin

Immediately after splitting from “X-Men” co-star Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence found herself engaged in a romance with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. While the 24-year-old Oscar-winner appeared happy during her summetime fling with the 37-year-old father of two, their coupling confused a few of the A-listers’ fans. After alleged backlash from Martin’s estranged wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, the duo called their brief romance quits in October.

Zac Efron and Michelle Rodriguez

Zac Efron, 27, and “Fast and Furious” star Michelle Rodriguez, 36, shocked the world when they revealed their steamy romance while vacationing in Italy in July. Photos from their getaway showed the duo kissing passionately while sunbathing on a boat. Their romance came just five months after Rodriguez spoke about her relationship with model and actress Cara Delevingne. Efron and Rodriguez parted ways in August. The “That Awkward Moment” actor has since moved on to businesswoman and model Sami Miró.

Mama June Shannon and Mark McDaniel

Fans were shocked by rumors “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star Mama June Shannon had rekindled her relationship with former boyfriend and convicted child molester Mark McDaniel in October. The situation became even more controversial after it was revealed McDaniel, now 53, had been convicted of aggravated child molestation toward June’s oldest daughter, Anna Cardwell, when she was 8. June, 35, said her relationship with McDaniel is not romantic. Her rumored fling with McDaniel came just after she had publicly split from her longtime boyfriend and co-star Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson.

Kylie Jenner and Tyga

At just 17, Kylie Jenner shocked her “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” fans with an alleged romance with rapper Tyga, 25, that reportedly started in September. While Tyga said his relationship with the reality star was strictly platonic, the duo raised eyebrows when they were spotted traveling overseas in October. The pair even spent Thanksgiving together and were spotted Christmas shopping Dec. 19. Thankfully for Kylie’s mom, Kris Jenner, who was reportedly upset about their rumored relationship, it appears Tyga has since moved on to the daughter of Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, Anjali Ranadive.

Lea Michele and Matthew Paetz

One year after the overdose death of her longtime boyfriend and “Glee” co-star Cory Monteith, actress Lea Michele, 28, found love. Surprisingly, her new boyfriend, Matthew Paetz, was revealed as not only being an actor, but a former escort for the site Cowboys4angels. Thankfully for Michele, TMZ revealed Paetz had quit working for the site at the start of their relationship in May.
