Wendy Williams Expresses Regret Over Comments About Gay Men, "I Deeply Apologize"

Wendy Williams took a moment to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community on Friday morning.

In the just over two-minutes-long YouTube video titled, "A message from Wendy," the 55-year-old talk show host expressed regret over the controversial comments she made about gay men during her Feb. 13 show.

"I'll start by saying I apologize. I did not mean to offend my LGBT+ community on yesterday's show," she said. "I did not realize until I got home and I watched the second running of our show."

"One thing that I can tell you is I never do my show in a place of malice," she added while holding back tears. "I didn't mean to hurt anybody's feelings. I deeply apologize and I deeply appreciate the support that I get from the community."

"I will do better," she promised.

During the Hot Topics segment of "The Wendy Williams Show" on Thursday, Williams asked the audience if they would be doing anything for Galentine's Day, the unofficial holiday inspired by NBC's comedy series "Parks & Recreation" where ladies celebrate each other on the day before Valentine's Day.

All was normal until she noticed men applauded as well, giving the notion that they too would be engaging in the holiday.

"If you’re a man and you’re clapping, you’re not even a part of this," Williams said. "You don’t understand the rules of the day. It’s women going out and getting saucy and then going home. You’re not a part."

She continued, "I don’t care if you’re gay. You don’t get a [menstruation] every 28 days. You can do a lot that we do, but I get offended by the idea that we go through something you will never go through."

"Just saying, girls, what do we have for ourselves?" Williams added. "Looky here now, gay men, you’ll never be the women that we are. No matter how gay."
