Nothing made “Westworld” star Evan Rachel Wood happier than seeing the Season 2 trailer at Comic-Con since it featured her character, Dolores Abernathy, looking fierce as she chased down park guests while riding a horse.

As far as Wood is concerned, it was a long time coming for her seemingly timid character. “It made me so happy. That character went through so much in the first season, so much pain and so many horrible realizations about the world and herself. The whole time, people were rooting for her to break free and take control,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

“To finally have that image of her with this disheveled blue dress and bullets across her chest and her hair blowing in the wind, free and wild, and taking control of her life again... yes, she’s gunning down people. But in her defense, she has been pushed a little too far.”

Wood added that the scene is very symbolic of what’s to come next season, and she guaranteed that people will love it because Dolores is going to become an empowered female character like Wonder Woman.

“There have been strong female characters, certainly not enough, but there was something about the representation in ‘Wonder Woman’ that was different. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. But I think it’s because she was such an outsider and such an alien and didn’t really understand the patriarchy,” she mulled.

“There’s something about Dolores not really being a man or a woman. She’s a machine. She kind of transcends gender and stereotypes. There’s something very cool and inspiring about that.”

There will be some exciting additions for “Westworld” Season 2, starting with Katja Herbers, who will be playing Grace. She is “a seasoned guest in Westworld whose latest visit comes at the park’s darkest hour” reports Deadline.

Some familiar faces will also return. Show creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are working hard to bring Anthony Hopkins’ Dr. Robert Ford back. Since Ford was killed by Dolores during the Season 1 finale, they are going to use him for flashbacks next season.

“Westworld” Season 2 premieres on HBO in spring 2018.
