It’s still a long wait, but Casey Bloys, HBO’s programming president, earlier explained to The Hollywood Reporter that the show is such a huge undertaking that they need a lot of time to prepare for it. “Westworld is such a big, ambitious show. I don’t know if it will be fall of 2017 or into ’18,” he said then. “That will depend as we get up and running. With ‘Westworld,’ because the production is such a big endeavor, I don’t exactly know when [it will premiere] yet. I can’t speculate other than to say it'll either be ‘17 or ‘18. Probably more like ‘18 and half-hours [Insecure and Divorce] in ‘17 but we’re a year away so let’s see how it goes.”
There will be some exciting additions for “Westworld” Season 2, starting with Katja Herbers who will be playing play Grace, “a seasoned guest in Westworld whose latest visit comes at the park’s darkest hour,” reported Deadline.
Some familiar faces will also return. Nolan and Joy are working hard to bring Anthony Hopkins’ Dr. Robert Ford back. Since Ford was killed by Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) during the Season 1 finale, they are going to use him for flashbacks next season.
As for young William, played by Jimmi Simpson, he will also return in flashbacks so fans will learn how he transitions into the seemingly heartless and sadistic Man in Black (Ed Harris). “I think... the show is obviously the park, but the element of the Man in Black is a small running line,” Simpson told IGN. “There is a few more questions that they’re gonna answer for us as far as exactly how that transition occurred and what it felt like to him and other people.”
“Westworld” Season 2 premieres on HBO in Spring 2018.
