What Does Malia Obama Like To Do? Former First Daughter Pursues Film, Spends Time With Friends In NYC
It’s no surprise that Malia Obama is as much of a go-getter as her parents. The 18-year-old is currently awaiting the fall 2017 semester to begin at Harvard University by interning in New York City.
The former first daughter is interning for Harvey Weinstein’s production company during her gap year and has been wasting no time in getting acquainted with New York.
The 18-year-old enjoys grabbing lunch with friends during her Manhattan-based internship breaks and takes in Broadway shows with friends.
More recently, the eldest Obama daughter was snapped strolling with friends one evening – and one “friend” in particular caused a stir. Malia was seen walking with a young man, which led many to jump to conclusions that the man was a love interest. Thus far, TMZ has identified the friend as a Stanford graduate that Malia had met at a Men’s Fashion Week event.
With the Obamas out of the White House, both Sasha and Malia are free to pursue their interests without coming under fire for missing a political event. The Obama girls have supported their parents by attending events like National Thanksgiving Turkey pardoning and participating in international tours. There was also the celebrity meets at the White House State dinners, which no doubt, any teenager would enjoy.
While attending the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., it was revealed that Malia was already passionate about pursuing a career in filmmaking and interned frequently during her high school years, the Los Angeles Times reported. Prior to joining the Weinstein Company, Malia had already interned on the set of the HBO television show “Girls” and assisted on set for the CBS television show “Extant.”
In addition to spending time with new friends in New York, there’s no doubt that Malia and younger sister Sasha keep in touch. The pair have appeared giggling in photos together and snap pictures on their phones.
