What Is A Germophobe? Donald Trump's 'Golden Shower' Could Be A Farce Because He's Obsessed With Cleanliness
President-elect Donald Trump has been accused of paying Russian prostitutes to urinate on a hotel bed used by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, according to an unverified report obtained by U.S. intelligence and published by Buzzfeed on Tuesday. However, Trump recently suggested he couldn’t have commissioned such an act since he is a germophobe.
Following the release of the document Tuesday, Trump took to Twitter to deny all the allegations that had allegedly been formed by Russians conspiring to blackmail him, writing: “FAKE NEWS – A TOTAL POLITICAL WITCHHUNT!” He also brought up the report on Wednesday morning before his first official press conference, posting on Twitter that the unverified document was the intelligence agencies’ “last shot” at him.
In the Wednesday press conference, Trump responded to questions over the unverified 35-page document, which purported that he had ordered prostitutes to carry out grotesque sexual acts, and somewhat denied the alleged "golden shower" incident by explaining he was actually a "germophobe," more formally known as mysophobia, a condition that involves a pathological fear of germs and an obsession with cleanliness.
“Does anyone really believe that story? I'm also very much of a germophobe, by the way,” Trump said over the allegations.
It is unclear how many people are affected by mysophobia, but the fear can sometimes lead to obsessive compulsive disorders that cause people to wash their hands incessantly or spend hours cleaning, according to WebMD.
Although Trump’s germaphobia may not necessarily be as extreme as some cases, others have apparently witnessed his phobia in the act. Following Trump’s big reveal, former CNN broadcaster Piers Morgan said on Twitter that he’s seen Trump’s germaphobia in action, writing that he had “personally seen him recoil from shaking hands.”
The unverified report details many other links between Trump and the Kremlin.
