What Happened To Selena Gomez’s Instagram After Apparent Hacking?

Update — Monday, Aug. 28 at 3:27 p.m. EDT: When Gomez's account was hacked Monday, nude picture of ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber were posted, Variety reported. The caption read “LOOK AT THIS N---- LIL SHRIMPY.” It was a paparazzi shot from Bieber's vacation in Bora Bora.

Update — Monday, Aug. 28 at 3:23 p.m. EDT: Gomez's Instagram account was reinstated.

“It Ain’t Me” singer Selena Gomez, who is one of the most followed people on Instagram, apparently deleted her account Monday. If she didn’t delete it, the page was likely hacked and all the pictures were removed.

At the time this article was written, Gomez, 25, did not immediately a statement.

As of February, the star became the queen of Instagram by boasting more than 110 million followers. “Thank you fam for 110. I promise I will continue to cherish my platform and speaking truth but more importantly, each and every one of you have changed my life. I'm very grateful,” she said at the time.

Gomez changed her look over the summer, trading in her long hair for a short bob. “My hair is such a crucial part of my show,” Gomez told People Magazine in July. “I remember at some point somebody was asking, ‘Oh should we pull it up for a section on stage?’ And I was like. ‘I wouldn’t even know what to do if I pulled my hair up.'”

“I love how my hair feels when I’m on stage because of the fans and movement,” she added. “It’s a part of my routine in a weird way.”

Gomez didn’t attend MTV’s Video Music Awards in Los Angeles Sunday, even though she was nominated twice — one for best collaboration for her duet with Charlie Puth's “We Don't Talk Anymore” and another the best dance song category for “It Ain't Me” with Kygo.

The singer said she couldn’t attend the awards ceremony because she was busy filming her new Woody Allen Film “Call Me By Your Name.” It also stars Elle Fanning and Timothee Chalamet.

“I don't know if I will [go to the VMAs],” Gomez said during an Aug. 18 radio interview. “I might be shooting but I cannot believe I got nominated, which is really cool, and I'm very upset that I won't be there.”

She’s currently dating The Weekend, though rumors swirled they were fighting. “Abel flew straight back to L.A. to try and fix things with Selena, but she just gave him the cold shoulder. He actually left early because he was sick of the silent treatment,” a source told Star Magazine Aug. 18. “She clearly wanted him to beg her for forgiveness, but that isn’t his style. Instead of dumping Abel, Selena panicked after he called her bluff. She’s so afraid of being alone that she begged him not to leave her.”

Gossip Cop, the website that regularly debunks celebrity rumors, deemed the article was a hoax.
