State media for North Korea called President Donald Trump selfish Tuesday for his move to pull out of the Paris Climate accord.

“The 'America First Policy' advocated by Trump led to the withdrawal from the Paris Agreement. This is the height of egoism and moral vacuum seeking only their own well-being even at the cost of the entire planet and, at the same time, a short-sighted and silly decision ignorant of the fact that the protection of the global environment is in their own interests,” said a statement by the North Korean state media arm, the Korean Central News Agency.

The statement also reaffirmed North Korea’s commitment to the accord.

“Global warming is one of the gravest challenges the humankind is facing today and the Paris Agreement that called for nationally determined contribution to the reduction of (greenhouse gas) emission is the outcome of decades long efforts to mitigate it,” said the statement.

The missive takes a strong stance against the U.S., typical for the secretive regime. It connects the U.S.’ “hostile policy” towards the Korean peninsula as a reason for its nuclear weapons program and says those who blindly follow the Trump administration “should be fully aware that the judgment of history shall take them all as one.”

The Paris climate accord is landmark global effort to curb climate change through reducing carbon emissions. The accord was joined by one-hundred and ninety-four nations, including North Korea, and not taken up by three: The United States, Syria, and Nicaragua. Syria is in the middle of a civil war. Nicaragua chose not to take up the accords because it felt that they did not go far enough to protect the environment and didn’t punish the large polluters enough, according to CNN.

North Korea wasn’t the only body politic to criticize Trump for his decision to pull out of the agreement.

Hawaii reacted Wednesday by signing legislation that would commit to the tenets of the accord. Former President Barack Obama, who has remained mostly quiet through the Trump administrations, called the move an “absence of American leadership.” Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement it was “a devastating failure of historic proportion.” Acting U.S. ambassador to China David Rank resigned his position because of the move.

Business leaders Elon Musk and Robert Iger both left White House advisory committees in protest.

Leaders across Europe have also taken a negative stance against the decision. French President Emmanuel Macron posted a video online in English calling on climate scientists to come to France and ending with the message, “We all share the same responsibility, make our planet great again.”

Macron also joined Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in a joint statement condemning the move.

Finally, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also criticized the decision in a statement, “We are deeply disappointed that the United States federal government has decided to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.”
