What Meghan Markle Learned From Kate Middleton Based On South Africa Tour
Meghan Markle has learned a fashion secret from Kate Middleton.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have already started their official tour in South Africa. Markle, who was initially slammed by netizens for her outrageous wardrobe, surprised many when she showed up at Cape Town in a sky blue dress by Veronica Beard with a wrap waist and button details down the front.
According to People, Markle’s outfit looked so familiar because she already wore it. The Duchess of Sussex donned the casual chic ensemble when she and Prince Harry visited Tonga’s Tupou College in October 2018.
The first time Markle wore the outfit, she tied her hair in a ponytail. However, the second time she wore it, she set her locks in loose, bouncy waves.
Markle recycled another outfit when she and Prince Harry attended a reception at the British High Commissioner’s Residence in the evening. The duchess first wore the khaki design dress at Bondi Beach during their tour in Australia, The Sun reported.
Recycling outfits is something that Markle may have learned from the Duchess of Cambridge. Middleton is the most popular royal who rewears outfits. The future queen consort has been photographed wearing the same ensembles in various royal engagements.
Earlier this year, Middleton recycled the Alexander McQueen black dress that she wore at the BAFTAs 2017 by wearing it again when she attended the 2019 Portrait Gala at the National Portrait Gallery in London. However, she made a slight change in her outfit by refashioning the off-the-shoulder dress. The Duchess of Cambridge swapped the Bardot straps for cap sleeves, making it look brand new.
In August, Middleton and Prince William were spotted in Balmoral to join Queen Elizabeth II for the monarch’s summer vacation. The royal mother of three was photographed wearing a $160 wool khaki jumper. Middleton was spotted wearing the same jumper multiple times already.
Royal biographer Katie Nicholl already said earlier that just like Middleton, her sister-in-law Markle would likely recycle her outfits, too.
“I’m quite sure we will see Meghan step out in outfits that she has worn before,” Nicholl said. “When you are buying that sort of couture with those sorts of price tag it would be criminal not to re-wear them.”
