The world may still be fawning over Queen Elizabeth’s sweet picture with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, but it appears the monarch may have a “crude” sense of humor behind closed doors.

After Prince Charles and Princess Diana introduced Queen Elizabeth to Prince William shortly after his birth in 1982, the monarch reportedly made a comment about the newborn’s appearance.

In 2014, Daily Express Royal correspondent Camilla Tomine revealed Elizabeth seemed relieved after learning William didn’t inherit a particular feature from Charles. “Thank goodness he hasn’t ears like his father,” said the Queen.

However, Prince Charles seemed to be unaware of his mother’s comment as he gushed about Prince William’s birth in a letter to his second cousin Patricia Mountbatten.

“The arrival of our small son has been an astonishing experience and one that has meant more to me than I ever could have imagined,” he wrote.

“I am so thankful I was beside Diana’s bedside the whole time because I felt as though I’d shared deeply in the process of birth and as a result was rewarded by seeing a small creature who belonged to us even though he seemed to belong to everyone else as well.”

While Queen Elizabeth may have commented on Prince William’s features after his birth, she was too busy smiling to comment on anything when she met Archie for the first.

On Wednesday, the royal family Twitter account shared a photo of the Queen meeting her newborn grandson. “The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were introduced to the newborn son of The Duke & Duchess of Sussex at Windsor Castle. Ms. Doria Ragland was also present,” the caption read.

Archie is Queen Elizabeth’s eighth great-grandchild. Some of her other great-grandchildren include Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Prince Louis.
