What Is Rihanna's Net Worth? Singer's Foundation Makes Huge Coronavirus Donation
Rihanna’s philanthropic efforts have taken a turn toward the coronavirus pandemic. The Clara Lionel Foundation, named after the singer’s grandparents, announced its $5 million grant donations to fight COVID-19 on March 21. So, just how much is the beauty mogul worth?
As Forbes reported in 2019, Rihanna is the richest female musician in the world with a net worth totaling $600 million. Although the 32-year-old is well known for her music career, most of her money is a result of her Fenty Beauty partnership with LVMH, a French luxury goods brand ran by Bernard Arnault. The makeup brand garnered a reported $100 million in sales within weeks of its release. Her other businesses include her lingerie line, Savage X Fenty, and her Fenty clothing line.
Organizations to profit from Rihanna’s recent donation include Direct Relief, Feeding America, Partners in Health, The World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, the International Rescue Committee and more.
“When we first began this year, never could we have imagined how COVID-19 would so dramatically alter our lives,” the organization's announcement about the donation read. “It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, this pandemic will affect us all. And for the world’s most vulnerable, the worst may be yet to come.”
The money will help supply “protective equipment for frontline health workers and diagnostic labs, the establishment and maintenance of intensive care units, and acceleration of the development of vaccines and other therapies across the globe.”
Furthermore, funds will help local food banks that serve the elderly and at-risk communities. Other purposes include providing healthcare worker training, distributing respiratory supplies and “virus prevention and containment in countries that will be on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response.”
“Protecting our frontline health workers and marginalized communities around the world requires getting ahead of it FAST,” the statement concluded. “The time to act is now.”
As Entertainment Weekly reports, Rihanna founded The Clara Lionel Foundation in 2012. On behalf of the organization she notably hosts Diamond Ball, which raised more than $5 million to aid in climate resilience and awareness around the world in 2019.
The foundation is currently accepting donations to further its aid amid the coronavirus pandemic.
