What’s New On Netflix In October? Top 8 Movies, TV Shows
A new month means new Netflix titles. The streaming platform updates their content every month, and it looks like October will bring plenty of fun titles. Whether you’re looking for a fun movie or something dark to watch before Halloween, Netflix has you covered. These are some of the best new TV shows and movies being added:
“Before Midnight” (Oct. 1) The “Before Sunrise” sequel takes place nearly 20 years after Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy) first met on that fateful night. The two look back on their lives and the choices they’ve made. They wonder if different choices would have changed much. The 2013 drama is rated R.
“Miss Congeniality” (Oct. 1) FBI agent Gracie (Sandra Bullock) isn’t exactly an example of femininity and grace, but she is the only one qualified to go undercover as a pageant contestant. A terrorist is threatening the Miss United States pageant, and it’s up to Gracie to save the beauty queens in this 2000 comedy.
“Never Let Me Go” (Oct. 1) This R-rated movie follows Kathy (Carey Mulligan), Tommy (Andrew Garfield) and Ruth (Keira Knightley), three friends at an English boarding school. However, they aren’t the normal young adults they appear to be. They exist for a very specific purpose.
“Penelope” (Oct. 1) Christina Ricci stars as the title character in this PG-film, and Penelope has a big problem: her pig snout. Her nose is cursed, but getting married will save her face. Many men reject her, so Penelope’s family hires a man (James McAvoy) to pose as a suitor. However, he isn’t acting for long in this 2007 fantasy film.
“The Fosters” Season 5 (Oct. 5) The latest installment of the Freeform drama hits Netflix in October. Callie (Maia Mitchell) tries to regain control of her life and gets a new love interest. Brandon (David Lambert), meanwhile, will be focused on Grace (Meg DeLacy), but Courtney (Denyse Tontz) isn’t out of the picture yet. Elsewhere, Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) tries something new.
“Mindhunter” Season 1 (Oct. 13) “Looking” star Jonathan Groff returns to the small screen in this thriller. He and Holt McCallany play FBI agents who interview serial killers in prison. They want to learn more about how their minds work, and it will be an intense experience. “Gone Girl” director David Fincher helms the Netflix original drama, and the network thinks it will be a hit. Season 2 has already been ordered.
“The Hateful Eight” (Oct. 25) Quentin Tarantino directed this R-rated western. The three-hour drama takes place just after the Civil War. John “The Hangman” Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive prisoner (Jennifer Jason Leigh) run into another bounty hunter (Samuel L. Jackson) and a man who is supposedly the sheriff. They need to find shelter from a blizzard.
“Stranger Things 2” (Oct. 27) The Netflix hit is finally back, just in time for a pre-Halloween binge. Details about the highly-anticipated premiere are being kept under lock and key, but expect the characters to be dealing with the aftermath of the demogorgon’s destruction. In particular, Nancy (Natalia Dyer) will feel guilty about Barb’s (Shannon Purser) death.
While Netflix is adding a bunch, several titles will also leave the streaming service. See what’s disappearing in October HERE.
