‘When Calls The Heart’ Spoilers: Chris McNally Teases Possible Lucas-Elizabeth Romance
When Hallmark Channel’s “When Calls the Heart” returns in a few weeks with Season 6, it’ll bring some new cast members along with it. One of those new stars is Chris McNally, who recently headlined the network’s Winterfest movie, “A Winter Princess.”
The actor will play Lucas, a mysterious gambler and saloon owner who doesn’t talk much about his past. He won’t be in the premiere episode on Feb. 24, but he joins in episode 2. In the beginning, he’ll spend most of his scenes with Abigail (Lori Loughlin), Bill (Jack Wagner) and Henry (Martin Cummins), but, “slowly, more with Elizabeth [Erin Krakow],” McNally told International Business Times.
She lost her husband Mountie Jack (Daniel Lissing) at the end of Season 5 and then had their baby, also named Jack, at the end of the 2018 “When Calls the Heart” Christmas special. Now, it looks like she might find romance once again. Well, if Lucas gets his way, at least.
He’s not the only one setting his sights on Elizabeth, though. Fellow newcomer, Kevin McGarry’s Mountie Nathan, is interested in getting to know her better, as well.
“We have a nice rivalry going on,” McNally told IBT. “Throughout the season, I think, we both realize that we both have an interest in Elizabeth. And, so, it becomes a little bit competitive in that regard.”
It’s not going to be “love at first sight or anything that serious,” he shared, but they both have “definite interest” in spending more time with Elizabeth and learning more about her. “She catches both of their eyes….[because] she’s just so wholesome and kind and beautiful and taking care of baby Jack,” McNally explained.
Their fight for Elizabeth’s attention turns into a physical competition toward the end of Season 6 when the two have some “bravado moments” at a county fair.
Before you get to see that fun, competitive moment later on in the season, though, you’ll have to see how everything else unfolds before then. It all starts when “When Calls the Heart” returns on Hallmark Channel on Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. EST.
