One of the most highly anticipated shows of the fall is another DC Comics adaptation. The CW introduced Ruby Rose’s Batwoman last year in the Arrowverse crossover, and her titular superhero show starts airing soon.

“Batwoman” Season 1 premieres Sunday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. EDT. It’ll air Sundays in that timeslot on The CW each week ahead of new episodes of “Supergirl.” Fans are able to stream any show from the network on ad-supported CW website and app for free and watch via OnDemand the next day.

DC lovers who want an ad-free streaming experience shouldn’t wait for the series to come to Netflix. Unlike most of the Arrowverse, “Batwoman” won’t head to Netflix a week after the Season 1 finale airs. Variety reports that “Batwoman” will instead go to WarnerMedia's streaming service, HBO Max, launching next year.

The Gotham-set drama won’t show up just after the season finale as they do on Netflix. The CW shows will go to HBO Max 30 days before the premiere of the new season. Assuming the superhero drama is renewed for Season 2 and brought back at the same time next year, that means HBO Max won’t add “Batwoman” Season 1 until next September.

“Batwoman” will focus on Kate Kane (Ruby Rose), the cousin of Bruce Wayne. Kate’s father, Jacob Dougray, sent her away to military school after her mother and sister were killed. Kate was dishonorably discharged and didn’t return straight home.

She returns to Gotham in the first episode because the Alice in Wonderland gang is targeting Kate’s dad and his company, the military-grade Crows Private Security. They kidnap Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy), Jacob’s best officer and Kate’s ex-girlfriend.

If you’re wondering why Batman hasn’t stepped in to save anyone, that’s because the dark knight hasn’t been in Gotham for about three years. Kate realizes that it’s up to her to be the city’s savior.

The show will be part of this year’s Arrowverse crossover, “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” “Batwoman,” “Supergirl,” “The Flash,” “Arrow” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” will each contribute an episode to the star-studded event, which will also include “Black Lightning” star Cress Williams for the first time. The crossover will start airing in December before wrapping up in January.
