When Does ‘SNL’ Come Back? Season 47, Episode 8 Air Date Revealed
“Saturday Night Live” didn’t come on last night, but viewers will only have to wait a few weeks for more laughs. The NBC sketch comedy series will return with new episodes next month.
“SNL” returns on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC. The episode will feature a first-time host pulling double duty.
Billie Eilish will be the host and musical guest when the series returns from its brief hiatus. The singer released her second studio album “Happier Than Ever” over the summer and her documentary “Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry” last February.
However, this won’t be Eilish’s first time on the “SNL” stage. She previously performed on the show in September 2019.
One week after Eilish’s episode, “SNL” will air its final show of the year, with returning host Paul Rudd and Charli XCX as the musical guest. Rudd, who will be hosting the show for the fifth time, stars in the new film “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.”
The actor also appears on the Apple series “The Shrink Next Door”, which has already aired five episodes.
Meanwhile, Charli XCX, who has previously performed on the show, is expected to release her new album “Crash” next year in March.
The final “Saturday Night Live” episodes of 2021 come amid rumors that longtime star Kate McKinnon may be leaving the NBC comedy sketch show. Since Season 47 of the series premiered in October, the actress has not appeared in an episode.
Although actors on the series have freedom to appear in other projects, “SNL” alum Ana Gasteyer told Us Weekly that McKinnon’s future on the show is unclear.
“People can kind of come and go,” Gasteyer said. “And so I don’t see any reason why someone like Kate would leave unless she had something else she wanted to go do, because if you can kind of hop in and out, that’s the ideal reality.”
McKinnon is currently filming a scripted adaptation of “Tiger King,” which is set to stream on Peacock.
