When Is A New ‘Sharknado’ Movie Coming Out?
Although it has been criticized as one of the worst movies around, viewers can’t seem to take their eyes off of the “Sharknado” movie series, which is probably why there is a fifth film set to premiere. In a little more than a month, fans will be brought back into the “Sharknado” universe for more fun and action from their favorite stars.
“Sharknado 5: Global Swarming” is set to premiere Sunday, Aug. 6 on SyFy. The film will star Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, Cassie Scerbo and Cody Linley. The actors will be reprising their roles from the previous films in the franchise. Ziering once again will play Fin Shephard, Reid will portray April Wexler, Scerbo will return as Nova Clarke and Linley will play Matt Shephard.

“With North America still reeling from the last disaster, the rest of the world braces for a global sharknado. Fin Shepard and his family must put a stop to the phenomenon before Earth is obliterated,” the synopsis for the upcoming film teases.
In the previous film, “Sharknado: The 4th Awakens,” the movie ended on a cliffhanger. While the Shephard family was in the middle of celebrating what they thought was the end of the sharknado crisis, the Eiffel Tower came crashing down from the sky with Nova eventually emerging from all of the debris.
Earlier in the movie, it was mentioned that Nova was away on vacation in Paris. The fallen landmark and the young woman’s appearance made the family realize that sharknadoes may now be a global problem.
“Sharknado 5” reportedly filmed in more than five countries, including Bulgaria, Australia and the U.K. The film may have also set scenes in Egypt. On the movie’s official Facebook page, a fictional media outlet, The Global Gazette reported evidence of sharknados found in Egypt.
The film series began in 2013 with “Sharknado,” which first introduced the idea of these weather events featuring sharks plaguing Los Angeles. In the next film “Sharknado 2: The Second One,” New York City acts as the location where the latest sharknado crisis takes place.
The third movie, “Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!” features the Sharknado storm based on the east coast traveling from Washington, D.C. to Florida, seemingly destroying everything in its path. By the time the fourth film rolls around, the franchise hints that the sharknado storms are becoming a widespread problem seeing as the disasters are now happening nationally.
A poster for the film was released in late June featuring Ziering, Reid and Scerbo along with the tagline, “Make America Bait Again,” a spin on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign slogan “Make America Great Again.”
