Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, in an open letter, has urged the Reds’ fans to “wait for the right time” to celebrate their first-ever Premier League title.

With Manchester City’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week, Liverpool sealed the 2019-20 Premier League title with seven games to spare. It was their 19th league title and first Premier League trophy. Meanwhile, Klopp became the first-ever German manager to win England’s top-flight league.

“I am a human being and your passion is also my passion, but right now the most important thing is that we do not have these kinds of public gatherings. We owe it to the most vulnerable in our community, to the health workers who have given so much and whom we have applauded, and to the police and local authorities who help us as a club not to do this. Please - celebrate - but celebrate in a safe way and in private settings, whereby we do not risk spreading this awful disease further in our community,” Klopp wrote in the letter.

Soon after The Reds were declared the 2019-20 English champions, so many fans gathered outside Anfield stadium to celebrate the historic moment that had eluded them for 30 long years. However, Klopp and several Liverpool players have criticized the conduct of fans.

“If things were different, I would love nothing more than to celebrate together, to have a parade that would be even bigger than the one after we won the Champions League last year so that we could all share this special moment, but it just is not possible. We have all done so much to fight Covid-19 and this effort cannot go to waste."

"When the time is right, we will celebrate. But for now, please stay at home as much as possible,” added Klopp, who took over Liverpool’s charge in 2015, and since then, he has won four trophies. Last season, Klopp’s Liverpool defeated Spurs in the final to clinch their first Champions League title since 2005. They followed that with victories in the UEFA Super Cup and their maiden FIFA Club World Cup, which they won in Qatar last December.
