When, Where To Watch ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ On TV This Year

It’s that time of the year again. It’s October and it’s almost Halloween, which means it’s time for horror movies, trick-or-treating, dressing up in costumes and making sure life is as spooky as can be.

One of the best parts about this holiday and the time leading up to it are all of the fantastic Halloween movies that are on TV, including Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

The classic flick will be shown four times during Freeform’s “13 Nights of Halloween” programming event. While the event begins on Oct. 19 at 7:30 a.m. with “Spooky Buddies,” the first showing of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” isn’t until a few days later.

Get ready to get spooked on Monday, Oct. 23, at 9:20 p.m. because that’s when the animated Burton film will air for the first time on the network. It will air again the following day, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m.

If you miss it during those two days, then you’ll have to wait until that Saturday, Oct. 28, at 3:30 p.m. for your next chance to catch it on your TV. The final time to see it during this Halloween event is on Sunday, Oct. 29, at 11:20 a.m.

Don’t want to wait around for a showing on TV and want to instead watch the movie on your own schedule? There are plenty of places to stream, buy or rent the 1993 film.

For Netflix subscribers, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is available to stream and can be found by searching for it by its name in the service’s search bar, or by locating it under four different genres – Halloween Favorites, Funny Halloween Favorites, Halloween Family Favorites and Children & Family Movies.

If you do end up watching the film on Netflix, it might be worth it afterwards to go back into one of those genres to see what other Halloween films might be good to try or rewatch. After seeing “The Nightmare Before Christmas” 20 more times, of course.

Those without Netflix, can rent or buy the film in either standard or high definition online on YouTube, iTunes, Amazon Video, Vudu and Google Play.

On all platforms, the prices are as follows: $2.99 to rent in standard definition, $3.99 to rent in high definition, $9.99 to buy in standard definition and $12.99 to buy in high definition. Amazon Video has the HD version of the film available for $11.99.

The movie alone not enough for you? Prefer to watch “The Nightmare Before Christmas” right before Christmas? There are other ways to experience all that this movie has to offer, including a live-to-film concert event at the Barclays Center on Dec. 6 and 7.

At this unique screening, Danny Elfman, who wrote the songs and score and was the singing voice of Jack Skellington, Catherine O’Hara (original voice of Sally) and Ken Page (original voice of Oogie Boogie) will sing live in synch to the movie. While this show has happened in Los Angeles in previous years, this will be the first time it’s taken place in New York.
