When Will Camila Cabello Release Her Album? Fifth Harmony Alum Changes Date
Fans who were hoping to get a copy of Camila Cabello’s debut solo album, “The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving,” will have to wait a few more months because the “Crying in the Club” singer revealed that her upcoming project isn’t finished yet.
During an interview with Official Charts, Cabello explained that her album release date has been pushed back because she wants it to be perfect. “I think it’ll come at the top of next year. You know, you only have one chance to make a debut album and at this point, I have so many songs I’m passionate about,” she said.
The 20-year-old insisted that she needed each song on the album to be worthy of chart-topping success. “You know those albums where they are clearly songs that aren’t as good as the singles I want every song to be single-worthy. I can’t imagine releasing something that isn’t that,” Cabello said.
“For example, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for ‘Havana’ – I’m so proud of it and I want to feel that way about every song. I have a lot of songs I feel that way about already, but for the amount I want to have on that album, I want to feel that way about every song.”
Cabello, who left her successful music group Fifth Harmony in December, revealed that she is about 80 percent done with the album but is determined to make sure the final touches are something she can be proud of.
Although the star has had a hectic schedule thanks to appearances, performances, campaigns and recording sessions, Cabello confessed that she is actually a fan of working hard to reach the pinnacle of success.
“You know that quote that’s like success is 10 percent talent and 90 percent hard work. I really believe that. I’ve known some hugely talented people that got left behind because they didn’t want to work hard,” she told the media outlet.
“For me, I just love this. I love what I do and I often tell myself this thing I once saw on Oprah. It was don’t do something for the outcome, do it for the work and because you want to have something great in your portfolio, for you. I love proving that I can do things for myself, rather than for someone else.”
In May, Cabello told Fault Magazine that she had a plan in place which would result in her album being released sooner rather than later. “I hope to release my first few songs before summer and then go from there and hopefully an album in the fall,” she said at the time.
However, the star’s success as a solo artist and her passion for songwriting has delayed her process. Cabello admitted that her hit song “Havana” has inspired her to further explore her creativity.
“It’s made me want to write more songs and it’s showed me that I should trust my gut more. ‘Havana’ has been the defiant song but I always thought it was important to put out music that feels authentic to me. ‘Havana’ doing well feels like the universe’s way of saying, ‘keep doing that, don’t be scared to take risks.’”
Although fans will have to wait until next year to get their hands on Cabello’s music, they can still catch her in concert this year when she takes the stage at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour.
