When Will ‘Wynonna Earp’ Season 3 Release On Netflix?
“Wynonna Earp” fans finally got some good news. Season 3 of the Syfy series is coming to Netflix. The latest episodes of the western sci-fi drama will hit the streaming platform later this summer.
Netflix announced Wednesday that “Wynonna Earp” Season 3 will be added to streaming on Tuesday, July 16. All 12 episodes will be available.
That’s almost a full year after it debuted. Season 3, which aired in weekly installments on Syfy, premiered on July 20, 2018 and wrapped up the following September. Fans who wait to watch on Netflix have been waiting for quite a while.
“Wynonna Earp” Season 3 picks up after the Season 2 finale, where Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) realized that killing the Widows wasn’t enough. Their husband Bulshar has been raised from the dead, and his awakening brings a coven of vampires called the Cult of Bulshar to town. She decides to turn to her mother for help.
Season 3 coming to Netflix isn’t exactly the news “Wynonna Earp” fans have been waiting for. The series is successful, but it’s currently in limbo due to financial issues at IDW Entertainment.
As previously reported, the studio has been using loans to cover the costs of their various series. Their public filing revealed that Syfy has ordered a fourth and fifth season of “Wynonna Earp,” but Syfy only pays about half the cost of the show.
Production on Season 4 was scheduled to begin in February, but it never happened. In April, IDW Entertainment assured fans that they were working to get the show back in production, but no start date has been announced.
Obviously, Season 4 won’t air this summer, and it seems like both fans and the people who make the show are still concerned about the possibility of cancellation. Showrunner Emily Andras is still using the #FightForWynonna hashtag on social media to help promote the show.
In the meantime, fans can rewatch the first two seasons, available now on Netflix, and enjoy the third season in July.
