CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski is in mourning following the death of his 9-month-old daughter, Francesca, on Christmas Eve.

On Friday, Kaczynski announced that he and his wife Wall Street Journal reporter Rachel Louise Ensign were grieving for their daughter, who they nicknamed Bean, months after she was diagnosed with an aggressive rhabdoid brain tumor.

“We’re heartbroken to have to announce our beautiful daughter Francesca passed away last night in the arms of her mom and dad,” he wrote in a tweet.

“There will always be a Bean-sized hole in our hearts for her. We’re so grateful to have known her love. Francesca, we love you.”

Kaczynski first shared news of Francesca’s condition in September and revealed he and his wife were exhausting all avenues to help their baby girl.

“Our six-month-old daughter Francesca was diagnosed with an extremely rare and very aggressive rhabdoid brain tumor this week,” he wrote in a tweet.

“We’re looking at any and all treatments right now, including experimental. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Kaczynski is the senior editor and founding member of CNN’s KFile. In the past, the reporter has worked for Buzzfeed covering politics.

Kaczynski is known for exposing some of the most controversial statements, deceptions, and other scandals from politicians. The journalist has been praised for his use of online platforms and unique reporting tactics.

Over the years, Kaczynski has been recognized for his social media presence and investigative reporting tactics, including receiving the “Beast Best” award from The Daily Beast in 2013 and landing on Forbes magazine “30 Under 30: Media” in 2017.

Although Kaczynski and Ensign appreciate the support they have received, the couple has asked those who wish to send the flowers or any gifts to consider donating to the PMC Winter Cycle charity event in honor of Francesca.

The charity will donate 100 percent of the funds raised to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
