Singer, 28, was found half naked and beaten to death in a field, and her killer was never found.

So what do fans need to know about this new season and new case? Here's everything we know:

The Show's Name Has Changed

While it is still called "Killing Fields," this new season specifies the location of the investigation to differentiate it from the unsolved Louisiana murder cases. The new show title is now "Killing Fields: Murder Isle.

Fisher's Murder Will Be Handled By New Detectives

The show will now see Lieutenant Thomas Potter, as well as the case's original lead investigator, Randy Patrick, teaming up to see if they can figure out what happened to Fisher. They will be joined by investigators Kris Coughlin and Katrina Everett.

Fisher's Boyfriend At The Time Had Been Ruled At As A Suspect

In an interview with Fox, Potter discussed the case and revealed how the timeline ahead of her death went to the best of police knowledge.

We found Carrie's body on a Monday afternoon," he said, "So we know on Friday evening before Carrie was killed, she was in a pretty violent, domestic argument with her boyfriend. She actually was the primary aggressor. She and her boyfriend had an on-again, off-again relationship. The night before, we now Carrie stayed at a local hotel, which is not far from her residence. She was seen there... She went to a local 7-Eleven. She withdrew money out of the ATM... And then after the withdrawal of that money, that's when it just seems that Carrie disappeared."

However, despite the fight, the boyfriend, Robert Dezern (who passed away in 2013), was ruled out as a suspect.

"… He fully cooperated with investigators. He sis some things that a person who is normally guilty for this type of crime, they would not do," Potter said. "He kept in contact with her family. So no, it does not surprise me that he passed the polygraph. He was a suspect for a number of years, but based on the most recent investigation, we were able to eliminate him as being a suspect."

It Is Believed That The Suspect In The Case Is A Young Hispanic Male

In October, Virginia authorities released a composite photo of a suspect in the case, which may have been determined thanks to the show. However, it is unclear if the suspect has been taken in.

"Killing Fields: Murder Isle" premieres tonight at 9 p.m. EST on Discovery.
