Who Is Hosting ‘SNL’ This Week? ‘Saturday Night Live’ Alum Returns April 15
“Saturday Night Live” returned with a new episode on April 8 after a three-week break. Hosted by comedian Louis C.K., “SNL” continued its great season with another stellar episode and hopes to keep the success going on April 15 when Jimmy Fallon hosts.
Having previously hosted in 2011 and 2013, the “SNL” alum will return to host for the third time and will be joined by former One Direction member Harry Styles, who will be making his solo debut during the Season 42 episode.
Styles’ debut won’t be the only big news during the upcoming episode. For the first time in the show’s 40-plus years on air, the April 15 episode will be aired live across all time zones. The live coast-to-coast episodes come at a time when the series is enjoying one of its best seasons.
“‘SNL’ — enjoying its most popular season in two decades — is part of the national conversation, and we thought it would be a great idea to broadcast to the west and mountain time zones live at the same time it’s being seen in the east and central time zones,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman, Robert Greenblatt.
A cast member from 1998 to 2004, Fallon was notable for his various impressions as well as frequently breaking character when on screen. The comedian most recently appeared on the show during a 2016 episode where he and Tina Fey played the characters Denise McDonough and Doreen Troilo.
During the Weekend Update skit, Fey poked fun at Fallon’s talk show interview with then-presidential hopeful, Donald Trump. Appearing as two undecided voters, Fey’s character accused Fallon of loving Trump.
“I don’t love Trump,” Fallon’s Doreen responded, to which Fey’s Denise said, “Well, stop acting like you do. Everyone thinks you love Trump. You’re always like, ‘Oh, his hair is real!’”
“Saturday Night Live” will air April 15 at 11:30 p.m. EDT, 10:30 p.m. CDT, 9:30 p.m. MDT and 8:30 p.m. PDT on NBC.
