Who Is In Oprah’s Black Lives Matter Special? Full List Of Activists
Oprah Winfrey is sitting down for a conversation with leaders and activists amidst the Black Lives Matter protests. The entrepreneur’s special “OWN Spotlight: Where Do We Go From Here?” will show her discussing issues of systemic racism with guests from Hollywood, academia and the political field, and it’ll be spread over two nights.
Some of the faces in “OWN Spotlight: Where Do We Go From Here?” will be familiar. The full list of featured guests includes politicians, filmmakers, journalists and activists:
- Stacey Abrams (politician)
- Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms (Atlanta mayor)
- Charles M. Blow (journalist)
- Ava DuVernay (filmmaker behind “When They See Us,” “13th,” “Queen Sugar”)
- Jennifer Eberhardt (professor and author of “Biased”)
- Nikole Hannah-Jones (journalist and Pulitzer prize-winning founder of the “1619 Project”)
- Ibram Kendi (historian and author of “How to be an Anti-Racist”)
- David Oyelowo (star of “Selma”)
- Rashad Robinson (Color of Change founder)
- Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) national board member)
“I’ve been having private conversations with friends and thought leaders about what’s next and where we go from here,” Oprah said in a press release. “I thought it would be both of interest and service to bring their ideas, concerns and comments into a national spotlight.”
“OWN Spotlight: Where Do We Go From Here?” will start on Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT with Part 2 airing on Wednesday at 9 p.m. EDT. Obviously, it will air on OWN, but it will also be simulcast on across all of Discovery’s 18 other U.S. networks, which includes TLC, Food Network and HGTV.
To make sure everyone has access to the social justice discussion, Discovery (OWN's parent company) is making it easy to watch online. The Oprah-led discussion will stream for free on OWN’s Youtube, Facebook and Instagram channels in addition to the Watch OWN and Discovery Family TVE apps. It will also be available on Discovery’s platforms in more than 200 countries and territories.
