Who Is Samantha Thomas? Ellen Page Steps Out On Red Carpet With Girlfriend For The First Time At TIFF 2015 Premiere Of 'Freeheld' [PHOTO]

After coming out as gay in 2014, actress Ellen Page took a stroll down the red carpet with her girlfriend, Samantha Thomas, for the very first time. Although they’ve been dating for several months, the premiere of Page’s new movie, “Freeheld,” offered the perfect opportunity for her to show off Thomas to the Hollywood public.

According to US Weekly, the two were hardly hiding their relationship from the public up to this point, as they’ve been posting a cavalcade of Instagram pictures with each other and have been spotted out and about together in New York City. However, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) was their first professional outing together where the “X-Men” actress was free to open up about her relationship for the first time.

“I’m in love,” she told E! Online saying that the event is not something she would have necessarily seen herself doing prior to coming out. “Walking down the carpet holding my girlfriend’s hand is pretty special.”

Despite Page’s star being on the rise thanks to her film roles, as well as a new Vice series, not much is known about her significant other. According to a profile done on her in Baku magazine in November 2014, Thomas was born in southern Texas, just a few minutes away from the Mexican border. While her father worked running his own business, the outlet reports that Thomas spent a lot of time at home learning art from her mother. It wasn’t long before art blossomed into a career for her. After turning down a golfing scholarship to the University of Tulsa, she moved to Los Angeles and began studying art at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, the magazine reports.

Since then, she’s made a name for herself in the art community thanks to her exploration of unique techniques such as 3D sculptures and work using various kinds of fabric. A lot of her work can be seen at her official website.

When she’s not walking red carpets with her movie-star girlfriend, Thomas is spending a lot of her time at the beach. An avid surfer, she often posts photos to her Instagram account showing her rising with the sun in order to catch a few waves before the rest of the world wakes up. She also goes at sunset sometimes too.
