Who will do better in 4G smartphone war? Sprint, Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile?
The major carriers in the United States will be getting their own share of smartphones this season. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011 saw new smartphones being introduced in the market and some of them are improving their old versions aggressively to dominate the market.
Here are some smartphones which have been announced and are awaited eagerly:
Samsung has brought out a mega smartphone with exceptional features and the smartphone is going to AT&T. This was an immediate surprise from Samsung during the CES 2011. Samsung Infuse 4G is a smartphone with all features is designed to beat bigger rivals in the market.
Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile have their own share of 4G smartphones ready for release. Verizon has announced its 4G smartphone HTC Thunderbolt, the successor of Droid Incredible and Motorola Droid Bionic 4G, while Sprint showcased their HTC EVO Shift and T-Mobile had their share with Motorola Cliq 2, the successor of the Cliq XT which was launched last year. Also AT&T will get HTC Inspire 4G and Motorola ATRIX 4G.
Introduction of the new Samsung Infuse 4G to AT&T is a major boost for the largest provider of fixed telephony in the United States. Samsung’s smartphone is going to feature the Super AMOLED Plus technology which increases the number of sub-pixels by fifty percent. In other words, this will make the screen more visible when exposed to bright light.
The smartphone from Samsung is bigger than Motorola Droid X and HTC Evo 4G. Infuse 4G has a 4.5-inch Gorilla Glass display, 1750 mAh battery, Froyo OS, Hummingbird 1.2 GHz processor, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, 8 mega-pixel camera and a 1.3 mega-pixel additional camera, video capture at 1080p HD, internal memory of 16 GB expandable using 32 GB microSD and 512 MB RAM. The smartphone will be released in Q1 of 2011.
HTC ThunderBolt 4G which is going to Verizon has 4.3-inch TFT capacitive touch-screen display, 8GB internal storage expandable up to 32 GB, 768 MB RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, 8 mega-pixel camera and a 1.3 mega-pixel additional camera, 720p HD video capture, Froyo OS, Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon 1 GHz processor and Li-Ion 1400 mAh battery. The expected release is on Q1 of 2011.
Another smartphone going to Verizon is Motorola Droid Bionic 4G, a mega feature-rich smartphone with extra capabilities. The smartphone features 4.3-inch TFT capacitive touch-screen display, 16 GB of internal storage expandable up to 32 GB, 512 MB RAM, 2 GB ROM, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, 8 mega-pixel camera and a VGA (0.3 mega-pixel) camera, 720p video capture, Froyo OS, 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H dual core processor and Li-Po 1930 mAh battery.
Sprint’s HTC EVO Shift is another me-too 4G smartphone in the market with a sliding QWERTY. The smartphone has 3.6-inch display, Froyo OS, 512 MB RAM, 2 GB ROM, Qualcomm MSM7630 800 MHz processor, Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery, 5 mega-pixel camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, WiMAX 802.16 e (Wi-Fi router) and weighs at 130 g.
Motorola Cliq 2 is just the successor of Cliq XT and it features 3.7-inch TFT capacitive touch-screen display, QWERTY keyboard, 512 MB RAM, 1 GB ROM, internal memory of 1 GB expandable up to 32 GB, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 5 mega-pixel camera, Froyo OS, 1GHz processor and Li-Ion 1420 mAh battery. The smartphone will be released this month.
The HTC Inspire 4G features 4.3-inch S-LCD capacitive touch-screen display, internal storage of 4 GB, 768 MB RAM, up to 32GB microSD, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 8 mega-pixel camera, Froyo OS, Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8255 1 GHz processor, Li-Ion 1230 mAh battery and it will be released Q1 2011.
Finally, the biggest smartphone of all is Motorola's ATRIX 4G which features 1 GB RAM with the latest WebTop technology which will help the smartphone to run Mozilla Firefox 3.6 browser. The WepTop technology enables switching to webtop mode to get the full computer like experience with Firefox web browser and full keyboard. The smartphone has a 4-inch TFT capacitive touch-screen display, internal storage of 16 GB, 1 GB RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 5 mega-pixel camera and a front VGA camera, 720p video capture, Froyo OS, 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H Dual Core processor and Lithium 1930 mAh battery. The smartphone is also expected to be released in 2011 Q1.
