Who Will Host ‘SNL’ In December?
“Saturday Night Live” will be new for the next three weeks, and NBC is bringing plenty of celebs to finish 2017 strong.
Dec. 2 will bring a veteran musical guest and a first-time host. Actress Saoirse Ronan will be on “SNL” for the first time. The actress, who currently stars in the critically acclaimed “Lady Bird,” is more well known for her dramatic roles in Oscar-nominated flicks like “Brooklyn” and “The Lovely Bones.” She’ll finally get a chance to show off her comedic chops.
Meanwhile, U2 will be the musical guest that night. It will be their fourth appearance on the variety show. This visit is to promote their 14th studio album, “Songs of Experience,” out Dec. 1.
“SNL” will switch to a veteran host and a newbie musical artist on Dec. 10. James Franco, who is promoting his new film “The Disaster Artist,” will serve as host again. The actor has served as the special guest of the night twice before, but it has been a while. He hasn’t been seen on “Saturday Night Live” since 2009.
SZA will perform on the Dec. 10 episode. The R&B singer/songwriter will be making her “SNL” debut. Though SZA has been putting out music for several years, she attracted much more mainstream attention with her first studio album, “Ctrl.” After her performance, she’ll head back to “The CTRL Tour.”
To close out the year, “SNL” will bring both a veteran host and musical guest. Kevin Hart be back to host for the third time. The new dad is promoting “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.”
Joining Hart will be the Foo Fighters, who are about to embark on another world tour in 2018. They’re supporting their latest album, “Concrete and Gold.”
Though they’re only listed as musical guests, don’t be surprised if lead singer Dave Grohl finds a way to appear in a sketch. The frontman showed off his comedic skills earlier this month when he guest hosted “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“Saturday Night Live” airs Saturdays on NBC at 11:30 p.m. EST, 10:30 p.m. CST, 9:30 p.m. MST and 8:30 PST.
