Who Will Play Mindy Lahiri’s Newest Love Interest In ‘The Mindy Project’ Season 5?
Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) will have a new love interest in “The Mindy Project” Season 5.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Smash” alum Jack Davenport has signed on to guest star in the hit Hulu TV show. Davenport will give life to the character of Leland Breakfast, an English stage actor who is also known as the “bad boy of the West End.” He will head to New York City to star in a one-man show and that’s where he will come across Mindy. As of late, it is still unclear how Leland’s arrival will rock the boat for Mindy and her ex-fiancé and baby daddy, Danny (Chris Messina).
Meanwhile, Mindy surprised fans of the show when she struggled to choose between Danny and her co-worker Jody (Garrett Dillahunt) in the finale episode for Season 4. Following the controversial cliffhanger, showrunner Matt Warburton told The Hollywood Reporter that Danny and Mindy’s relationship will continue to be put to the test. “We’re going to pick up, more or less, exactly where Mindy’s head is at the end of the end finale… I think people will be excited by how quickly we move things forward with the decision that she makes,” he said.
In other news, TV Line reported that “The Mindy Project” Season 5 will continue to feature some of Mindy’s ex-boyfriends from the past seasons. Actors Bill Hader, Anders Holm and B.J Novak will all be back. Messina, on the other hand, will continue to be in the show as a recurring guest star and not as a regular cast member.
“The Mindy Project” Season 5 will premiere on Hulu on Oct. 4.
