Why Alyson Hannigan Allowed 'This Is Us' To Film Final Season In Her Famous Home

Alyson Hannigan has revealed that she allowed "This Is Us" to film at her famous home after rejecting countless other inquiries about using the property as a set.

During an appearance on SiriusXM's "The Michelle Collins Show" Thursday, the "How I Met Your Mother" alum, 47, said she let the "This Is Us" cast film their upcoming sixth and final season at her California home, though she was initially hesitant to do so.

"The people we bought our house from, I don't know if they ever lived here. I think they just rented it out for film shoots. I think my house's resume is longer than mine," Hannigan joked.

She continued, "When we moved in we were like, 'We will never do that, we know what productions do to locations' and all that. I mean, I would say at least twice a month, get requests because the house is just known."

Hannigan shares the home with her husband, Alexis Denisof, and their two kids Keeva, 9, and Satyana, 12. She bought the property in 2018.

After years of rejecting requests to shoot at her home, however, Hannigan said she made an exception for "This Is Us" after discovering that the series' director was her neighbor.

"We were like, 'If we are ever going to do it, we would do it for that show 'cause it’s so good,'" added the host of Food Network's "Outrageous Pumpkins."

It turns out that she made the right choice. The show gave her family a nice staycation while they were shooting scenes at her home. They also fixed previously damaged things at her home after filming wrapped and returned her house in "wonderful shape."

"Not only did they give us our house back in wonderful shape, they fixed things that I had damaged," Hannigan shared, adding that they touched up paint, offered to clean up where one of her daughters left a handprint on the wall and more.

She continued, "They fixed damage that I had done. We've got a lot of wood or whatever [and] you can't tape anything to it or it takes some of the stain off and I didn't know that on my first Halloween and I taped to this beautiful door. I forever see like little tape marks. No, they fixed that too! I was like 'You guys!'"

Hannigan's Los Angeles home was previously used to film the thriller "Fracture" starring Anthony Hopkins, Ryan Gosling and Rosamund Pike as well as an episode of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." The house also appeared in a Hyundai 2016 Super Bowl commercial featuring Kevin Hart, according to Daily Mail.

"This Is Us" Season 6 started production last month. It will return midseason 2022 on NBC.
