Why Camila Cabello Stutters Around Boyfriend Matthew Hussey

Camila Cabello’s been spotted with her boyfriend Matthew Hussey since February, but the “Consequences” singer still gets that butterflies-in-her-stomach feeling whenever she’s around him. So much so that sometimes she starts to stutter in his presence.

In other words, she’s excited when he’s near but also incredibly nervous, especially when he’s watching from the audience during a performance. “Any time he’s there, I get super nervous,” the Fifth Harmony alum told Marie Claire. “I stutter or my hands are shaky.”

She continued: “It’s annoying, because we’ve been together for kind of like a long time now, but every time, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I have to talk now.’”

Despite feeling nervous sometimes, Cabello’s enjoying spending a lot of time with her British relationship coach of a boyfriend, whom she told the outlet she’s in love with. It helps that he has a lot of the same personality traits as the singer.

“He’s so similar to me,” she said. “In person, we’re just weird and silly and stupid together. He makes me the happiest I’ve ever been in my life.”

The two started dating months ago after meeting on the “Today” set, but have remained mostly out of the public eye. Over the course of their relationship, Hussey’s gotten to know Cabello’s family, all of whom have given him their stamp of approval.

That’s an extra important piece to the relationship puzzle for the singer because of how close she is with her family. She did just buy a house in Miami for them and herself, after all.
