Why Chick-Fil-A Is Apologizing To Its Customers Over A Tweet Gone Wrong

Chick-fil-A was slammed by a number of fans after it posted a tweet that some deemed racist and the company is now apologizing for its comments.
The chicken chain's tweet came in response to a customer who wanted to know when the restaurant would begin offering spicy nuggets.
The tweet read: "grilled spicy deluxe but still noooo spicy nuggets............@ChickfilA....."

The term "your community" is what caused the backlash against the chain, as many thought Chick-fil-A was assuming the user was Black.
Some questioned Chick-fil-A for the response, saying, "wdym by your community???" and others wanted answers, saying, "explain yourself - QUICKLY."

The tweet, which had garnered over 1,600 replies and over 6,700 quoted tweets, sparked an apology from the company.
Chick-fil-A acknowledged the Twitter response to the fan was a "poor choice of words."
A spokesperson for the chain told Today, "The response was a poor choice of words but was not intended in any way to be insensitive or disrespectful.
"We often use the term 'community' in a broader sense to talk about places where we operate restaurants and serve the surrounding community."
Other fans of Chick-fil-A also pointed out that the company often responds to posts with the words "your community" in them as a common practice.
