  • Demi Lovato revealed that she has finally learned to “let go” of toxic people
  • Lovato opened up about her ex-boyfriends
  • She said it was not healthy for her to keep her exes in her life

Demi Lovato has been one of the few celebrities who never did shy away from opening up about her personal life. From being truthful about her relationships to her struggles with a fatal drug overdose, Lovato has always given insights into her personal life in a dignified manner.

In a recent interview, Lovato revealed that she is not friends with any of her ex-boyfriends and also noted that she has finally learned to “let go” of people who have not been a good influence on her.

Speaking with Jameela Jamil in her “I Weigh” podcast, the 27-year-old musician admitted that she always tried to fix everything that ended “negatively.” But then, she realized that there is no point in having “toxic” people in her life.

“I kind of used to have this mentality that if I had a negative experience with someone, I always needed to mend it or I always needed to make things right. The fact of the matter is, I am not really friends with any of my exes today because I had to realize that it was not healthy either,” Lovato said.

The “Sorry Not Sorry” hitmaker has dated quite a handful of guys in her life. In 2009, she dated Miley Cyrus’ older brother Trace Cyrus for several months and called it quits due to busy work schedules. In 2010, Lovato was in a relationship with Joe Jonas. The couple even posed together for Teen Vogue but sadly, the romance did not last. The singer has also been linked to other men including Mike Johnson, Austin Wilson, and Henry Levy.

In the same interview, the “Sober” singer explained that she was been able to “fully” let go of people because of their past behaviors.

“Now that I have been able to fully let go of people, you know, that is another thing that I had to learn when it comes to cutting toxic people out of your life – if they are an ex, it is for a reason,” Lovato said.

The news comes a few days after Lovato revealed how her life became so stressful while working on Disney’s “Sonny With A Chance.”

Lovato said she “was not sleeping and I was so miserable and angry too because I felt like I was being overworked.” She also added that she was surprised when the series continued after she left.

Meanwhile, Lovato and Richard Branson recently raised $2 million for The Mental Health Fund. The initiative aims to provide crisis intervention via text messages 24/7.
