According to The Hollywood Reporter, Musk — who has recently been spotted spending time with Heard — requested to meet the 30-year-old actress via email four years ago while they were making the 2013 film “Machete Kills.”

The 45-year-old SpaceX and Tesla Motors CEO made a cameo appearance in the comedy action film, while Heard played the role of Blanca Vasquez/Miss San Antonio in the flick directed Robert Rodriguez. Musk and Heard didn't share a scene with each other, but a source close to the set told the news outlet that the business magnate became infatuated with her and began sending emails to Rodriguez asking him to set up a meeting between him and the “Danish Girl” actress.

“If there is a party or event with Amber, I'd be interested in meeting her just out of curiosity,” Musk wrote, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s confidential source. “Allegedly, she is a fan of [novelists] George Orwell and Ayn Rand … most unusual.”

Although Rodriguez did set up a dinner for the two, Heard — who was dating her ex-husband Johnny Depp at the time — didn't show up. Musk, however, was reportedly so interested in meeting Heard that he asked Rodriguez’s team to set up another meeting with the thespian.

“Can you send her a note saying I would like to get together for lunch in LA?" he wrote in his second email. "I am not angling for a date. I know she's in a long-term relationship, but … Amber just seems like an interesting person to meet.”

A source recently confirmed to People that Musk’s interest in the “Justice League” actress has always been platonic. The source also noted that Musk is fond of meeting “interesting people from all different industries.”

Although it’s unclear when exactly Musk and Heard got to meet each other personally for the first time, People’s source said that the two “have been friends for four years and remain just friends now.”

Heard, who married Depp in Feb. 2015, filed for divorce in May. The divorce was settled last week, with Heard receiving $7 million.

Musk is also in the middle of his own divorce from British actress Talulah Riley. After remarrying in July 2013, Musk filed for a second divorce from Riley in Dec. 2014. For some reason, the action was withdrawn. But this March, the Associated Press reported that divorce proceedings were again under way, this time with Riley filing for divorce from Musk.
