Why Isn’t Jana Duggar In A Courtship? Her Thoughts On Dating After Joy’s Announcement

Joy-Anna Duggar has officially entered into a courtship with means Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s oldest daughter, Jana Duggar, is officially the last single, adult female in the reality family’s household.

At 26 years of age, Jana has yet to publicly date (or in Duggar terms, court) anyone which has left many fans wondering: why?

While Jana hasn’t divulged specific details about her romantic life, she hasn’t exactly shied away from talking about her hopes and desires for her future either. In a March episode of “Counting On” she made it clear she prefers a working man, and in an October segment, she clarified to the cameras that she’s not out to marry the “first one who comes along.”

“I don’t know what the next five years will look like. In some ways you’ve got hopes and dreams. Maybe I’ll meet the one and get married and have kids and stuff,” she said, adding, “There have been different guys come along and ask, but they haven’t been the right one. It’s just one of those things. I’m not just out to get married to the first one who comes along.”

Jana didn’t name her suitors, but she has been attached to several men. Not only was she infamously linked to former NFL star Tim Tebow in 2014 (a claim she her cousin vehemently denied on her behalf), she was also said to have once had a failed romance with a fellow reality star. In 2015 it was reported that Jana turned down advances from family friend and now-married “Bringing Up Bates” star Zach Bates after having “secret chaperoned dates.”

Jana has not only discussed her courting desires in recent months, she also shared in one Season 2 episode her thoughts on her twin brother John-David Duggar entering into a courtship. While John isn’t known to be in a relationship, Jana shared her hope that she and his future wife could be good friends.

“Being John’s twin I think it’s really important, or at least to me. I’m like I really want to be in on this and knowing that he’s going to get a good girl,” she said.

Of course, Jana doesn’t need a relationship. When she’s not helping her family with household projects, like re-doing her parent’s guest home, or starring on “Counting On,” she’s a business owner. Jana purchased a former tattoo parlor near her home in Springdale, Arkansas, in April.

Joy-Anna Duggar announced her courtship with longtime friend Austin on Tuesday night after TLC viewers watched her sister Jinger Duggar marry Jeremy Vuolo. “I was so surprised... I was not expecting it. So happy,” Joy said of the courtship proposal.

Joy’s new relationship will be just one of several storylines on next year’s episodes of “Counting On.”
