Why Isn’t ‘Riverdale’ On Tonight? The CW Delays Season 3, Episode 4
If you were hoping for a new episode of “Riverdale” to give you the spooks on Halloween night, you’ll have to choose another scare tactic. The teen drama’s taking the holiday off, and a repeat episode of “Charmed” will air in its place on The CW at 8 p.m. EDT.
Luckily, fans won’t have to wait long for the show to come back. Season 3 continues next Wednesday, Nov. 7, with episode 4, titled “Chapter Thirty-Nine: The Midnight Club.” The show’s taking advantage of the fact that it airs on #WaybackWednesday and will air a flashback episode when it comes back.
“When Betty (Lili Reinhart) confronts Alice (Madchen Amick) about Gryphons and Gargoyles, Alice has no choice but to come clean about how she, along with a young Fred (KJ Apa), FP (Cole Sprouse), Hermoine (Camila Mendes), Hiram (guest star Michael Consuelos), Sierra (Ashleigh Murray), Penelope (Madelaine Petsch) and Tom (Casey Cott), played the game in the early 90’s – and how a shocking mystery has been plaguing them all ever since,” the synopsis reveals.
That’s right, the “Riverdale” teens will be playing younger versions of their parents, but it’s going to be even more meta than that. Consuelos, who will guest star as a young Hiram, is actually the real-life son of the actor who plays the present-day Hiram, Mark Consuelos. Anthony Michael Hall will also have a guest role that night. He’ll play Principal Featherhead of Riverdale High circa 1992.
“Riverdale” isn’t the only CW show taking a break tonight. The network’s new series, “All American,” which normally airs immediately after the Archie series, also has Halloween off. The pilot episode of “Legacies” will air instead. When the football drama returns with Season 1, episode 4, titled “Lose Yourself,” Spencer (Daniel Ezra) will spend some time bonding with Asher (Cody Christian).
“While riding the exhilarating wave of a three-game winning streak, Spencer becomes seduced by the Beverly Hills good life leading to an unexpected adventure with Asher,” according to the synopsis. “Meanwhile, Coop (Bre-Z) is also being seduced by a new way of life – gang life – and everything it offers her.”
“Riverdale” and “All American” return with new episodes on Nov. 7 on The CW.
