Jana Kramer had a hard time letting go of her marriage to Mike Caussin as she didn’t want it to end, according to a report.
The country singer, 37, tried to hold on to her marriage to the 34-year-old former football star until it was finally time to let go, an insider exclusively dished to Us Weekly Thursday.
According to the anonymous insider, Kramer “went over and beyond to salvage this marriage,” but her efforts were futile since the distrust caused by the cheating issue “was killing her inside.”
The “One Tree Hill” actress and the ex-Buffalo Bills player were married for almost six years before they officially called it quits. In their marriage, they welcomed two kids together, a 2-year-old son named Jace and a 5-year-old daughter named Jolie.
The insider revealed that Kramer initially did not want to end their marriage and file for divorce because she wanted to keep their family together. She also wanted to expand their brood by having more kids together.
“One of the reasons why she stayed so long was because she wanted to keep the family together and have more babies,” the insider said.
Another thing that held her back from breaking up with Caussin despite his infidelity was the fact that she couldn’t imagine living a life without him as she was “scared of what life would be on her own without him,” according to the insider.
Nevertheless, her fear was ultimately outweighed by her courage to free herself from such a harrowing situation. Kramer just couldn’t trust Caussin anymore as he kept on cheating on her, the source added.
“Her fear of him cheating and lying always crept back to steal what little peace she had. On the outside, they had this beautiful life and beautiful home in Nashville but behind closed doors, it was a different story,” the insider said.
Kramer first announced her split from Caussin last week. In the divorce papers she filed recently, she revealed that they officially separated on April 20. Around the same time, People reported that Kramer filed for divorce due to Caussin’s infidelity.
In the court documents obtained by the media outlet, Kramer cited “inappropriate marital conduct, irreconcilable differences and adultery” as grounds for termination of their marriage.
Though Caussin has not personally reacted to the issue, an unnamed source told Us Weekly Wednesday that he “regrets” the things he has done to his soon-to-be ex-wife.
