KEY POINTS
- Mike Caussin regrets what he has done to his estranged wife Jana Kramer
- Both Caussin and Kramer want to be civil while they process their divorce
- Kramer already did everything she could to save their marriage before the split
Mike Caussin and Jana Kramer are not getting back together because they have already accepted that their marriage is not going to work.
Kramer, 37, announced her split from Caussin, 34, on Instagram last week and filed for divorce citing "inappropriate marital conduct, irreconcilable differences and adultery" as the reasons behind their breakup. The former NFL player allegedly cheated on his wife again and he was not proud of what he did, according to a report.
"Mike always regrets what he’s done and feels like a heel, but unfortunately it doesn’t end there," a source told Us Weekly.
Meanwhile, Kramer "knows she did her best and did everything she could" before they called it quits which was "very important to her."
"She’s definitely holding her ground and saying she’s not going to take him back. She’s done, but emotionally it’s been draining," the insider added.
Both have reportedly already agreed that their marriage won't work, so they have no plans to give it another try.
"Jana and Mike both agree [that] at this point it’s not going to work," the insider said. "And they want to be civil, but they’ll still need time to process the divorce themselves before they’re able to explain things to the kids."
Another insider said earlier that Kramer has no plans to get back with Caussin again after she learned about his recent infidelity. She felt blindsided because she thought everything was fine in their marriage.
"This time she’s said it’s over for good," a different insider said. "She wouldn’t have filed for divorce if she wasn’t serious about it."
Their friends were surprised after learning about their split because they were aware of the couple's efforts to make their marriage work. Despite their separation, the couple still wants to give their children, Jolie, 5, and Jace, 2, a normal upbringing.
"Their kids are still pretty young and wouldn’t fully understand if they told them they’re separating," the insider added. "They want to make sure their kids are raised as normal as possible despite their parents no longer living together."
