Why Jennifer Lopez Didn't Want To Marry Alex Rodriguez
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez may be relationship goals, but the "World of Dance" judge was still initially skeptical about the idea of marrying the MLB star.
Last week, Lopez opened up about her relationship with Rodriguez during a guest appearance on the "Morning Mash Up" on SiriusXM Hits 1. During her interview, she dished on why she didn't want to take her relationship with the former baseball star to the next level at first.
"I was very wary after everything I've been through," she explained.
Lopez, who was previously married to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd and Marc Anthony, admitted that while she loved Rodriguez, it seemed like things were going too fast. "I was just sussing it out until then. I was like, 'I don't know, maybe yes, maybe no, I really love [Alex], I like him.' Everything seemed almost too perfect too soon, so I was like, 'Wait, what's happening?'"
However, Lopez said yes when Rodriguez proposed in March after two years of dating because she felt "it was the right time." She also gushed over the former athlete, calling him her "best friend" and "partner."
"We're very similar ... it's one of those things, you meet a like-minded person who is trying to be the best person they can be and always trying to grow, and then they help you grow and you help them grow. I'm better here, he's better there and we're better together," she revealed.
And it seems everyone around the couple seemed to have felt that wedding bells were in their future as a source told Entertainment Tonight that Lopez and Rodriguez's family and friends were not surprised by their engagement.
"They have done a really good job of blending their families and making it known that one day they'd be married," the insider said. "J.Lo and A-Rod are perfect for one another. They push each other to be better in all aspects of their life, and are incredible partners together."
According to the insider, Lopez and Rodriguez have "gotten more and more serious" in their relationship. The two have bought joint property and even went into business together.
Lopez and Rodriguez announced their engagement via Instagram on March 10 by sharing photos of the massive sparkler he gave the singer during their Bahamas getaway.
