Kate Middleton’s younger brother, James Middleton, is being accused of cashing in on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

Just days before the infant was born, an email from James’ company Boomf was sent out in an attempt to boost the business. The message, which was sent to thousands of loyal Boomf customers referenced the birth to Archie by saying that it was a royally exciting week to become a new parent.

“Boy oh boy – that was a surprise! It’s a royally exciting week to become a new parent (wink wink)… Every parent deserves to have their little prince or princess showered in colorful confetti… Celebrate and congratulate them by sending something a little bit different,” the email read.

Attached to the email is a short video of the confetti products used by a mother and her two children. The video also listed out products like the bomb of joy, which blasts confetti from a card. Other products included personalized marshmallows, three-dimensional flutter cards, and fold-up animals.

Royal commentators criticized James for his bold attempt at marketing his brand and products. Ingrid Seward, the editor of Majesty magazine, told the Daily Mail that everyone cashes in on royal births but it’s not considered good manners for a family member to do it.

James also defended himself by saying that there is no awkwardness between him and the Sussexes. He also said that it’s a bit far-fetched to say that he and his team are cashing in on Archie. James said that they are merely celebrating his arrival.

Meanwhile, James is not the only relative of a royal who was accused of cashing in. Last year, Markle’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, was accused of doing a similar thing when she announced that she will be releasing two books about the Duchess of Sussex.

Earlier this year, Samantha said that the first part of her book will be released in April, but it’s still not available until today.
