Why Meghan Markle Will Celebrate Her Birthday This Way As A Duchess
When joining the royal family, duty calls quite often—sometimes including on one's birthday. Meghan Markle is no exception to that rule, but while she won't be celebrating her birthday the way she normally might, she won't have to perform any specific royal duties either.
In fact, according to Hello! Magazine, the Duchess of Sussex's upcoming 37th birthday on Aug. 4 will be spent toasting another couple, as she attends a wedding with her husband Prince Harry, who is serving as the Best Man. In fact, the couple saying their vows this time around will be Harry's childhood friend Charlie van Straubenzee and his fiancée, Daisy Jenks.
The news was reportedly confirmed by royal photographer Tim Rooke, who took to Twitter to reveal he would not be attending the upcoming wedding to photograph Prince Harry filling in with his Best Man duties due to a planned trip elsewhere.
"Unfortunately I will be missing the wedding of Charlie Van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks where Prince Harry will be best man on August 4th in Churt Surrey as I will be on the beach. Can't do everything!" He wrote.
This birthday will be Markle's first as a Duchess, following her own nuptials to Prince Harry on May 19 of this year. While attending the wedding does not fall under her normal royal duties, it does keep her from celebrating the way she has in years past.
In 2017, just shy of their officially going public as a couple and only a few months prior to announcing their engagement, Markle and Prince Harry spent her 36th birthday celebrating on an African Safari trip. At the time, there was speculation that the trip would serve as the location for where he asked the then-actress to be his wife.
Of course, even if she had nothing else on her calendar for her birthday this year, it's unlikely Markle would have been caught doing anything like partying hard or being caught in a compromising position. Considering there are virtually rules governing everything she does these days, it seems as though the royal family wouldn't allow for some wild and crazy fun.
