Meghan Markle has been accused of having a political agenda, which is a bad idea for the royal family.

While speaking on "talkRADIO," journalist Toby Young warned the Duchess of Sussex against diving too close to the political sphere. He said that since the “Suits” alum joined the royal family, she has been trying to make the British clan more aware of specific social issues.

“The problem is his wife clearly has a particular political agenda – she is the woke Duchess and she sees it as her life’s work to make the royal family woke. For a member of the royal family to take such an inadvertently political stance is always a bad idea because they are funded by the taxpayers and therefore, they have an obligation to remain above the political sphere,” he said.

Markle also recently announced that she guest-edited the September issue of British Vogue. Prince Harry’s wife interviewed 15 trailblazers for the special issue, which includes Yara Shahidi and Jane Fonda.

Following the announcement, “Good Morning Britain” host Piers Morgan dubbed Markle’s latest venture with the publication political. He also said that British Vogue acts as proof that the “Suits” alum cares more about furthering her personal agenda and interests rather than promoting the royal family.

However, Markle isn’t the only member of the royal family who has been accused of having a political agenda. Years ago, Prince Charles was also criticized for talking too much about climate change and architecture, which plunged the royal family into a decade-long debate between the government and the public.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl explained the issue by saying that it was a scandal because it appeared to show Prince Charles as meddling with political matters.

“We don’t expect the members of the royal family to be political, they’re not allowed to be political. Yet here was the future king meddling, as far as the Guardian was concerned, in matters that didn’t concern him,” she said.
