It looks like Miley Cyrus had a change of heart.

The 26-year-old rocked the stage at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night as she belted out her latest single, "Slide Away," a song suspected to be about her split from Liam Hemsworth. Miley wasn't always on the lineup of artists to perform though, and she actually hit home the notion that she wouldn't be performing when she commented on a Miley Cyrus Instagram fan page in July.

"Guess I’m not watching the VMAS this year ... unless Miley performs," the caption read to which Miley responded, "No [expletive] way."

However, as fans saw, the former Disney Channel star put on her little black dress and gave an epic black and white performance. So why the sudden change of mind? Miley's mother, Tish Cyrus, spilled the beans to Entertainment Tonight following the performance.

"She didn't change her mind, it was just a last-minute [thing]," Tish explained. "Something opened up and she came to sing and I'm so excited!"

Hemsworth filed for divorce from the "Mother's Daughter" songstress on Aug. 21, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. Despite the heartbreaking news, Miley seems to be doing just fine. When asked how Miley was doing, Tish assured fans she's "always good."
