Why Prince Harry Seemed 'Desperate To Avoid' Prince William During Easter Sunday Service
Prince Harry reportedly avoided his older brother Prince William during the royal family's Easter Sunday church service, according to a body language expert.
On Sunday, Prince Harry joined Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William, Kate Middleton and the rest of the royal family for a service at St. George's Chapel in Windsor. Before the service, the Duke of Sussex fueled rumors of a feud between him and his brother as he was spotted walking ahead of Prince William into the church. Prince Harry reportedly also didn't talk to Prince William on their way out of the chapel, People reported.
Judi James, a body language expert, told Daily Mail that Prince Charles and Princess Diana's two sons seemed almost like "strangers" during the event due to the way they acted around each other.
"Watching them at the Easter service was almost like watching strangers," she commented of their behavior.
The expert noted that Prince Harry seemed to have had no intention of interacting with Prince William and Middleton. "With Meghan about to give birth soon, Harry was by himself but there were no signs of him joining up with William and Kate on arrival or leaving the church. If anything Harry appeared to avoid his brother," James continued.
Prince Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, was not able to accompany her husband to the church service as she is nearing her due date. But he made sure to catch up with his other relatives, including his cousin Zara Tindall.
However, this only seemed to highlight the distance between the two brothers. According to James, Prince Harry walked ahead of Prince William and greeted their hosts first, but when his older brother caught up with him, the Duke of Sussex "turned and walked away."
Prince Harry then greeted another host before he stood by the wall with his head down, looking away. According to the body language expert, his behavior may show that he is worried about something, possibly the arrival of his first child with Markle.
"His trait of face-touching looked like a partial cut-off gesture that can signal a desire to hide," James explained. "He clearly has the new baby on his mind and it would be natural for his anxiety levels to increase at a time like this but the lack of contact with William in the public poses come at a time when you might expect the exact opposite."
The expert added that the two brothers' recent behavior toward each other seemed very different from how they used to interact. Prince William and Prince Harry used to display "strong bonds between them" and had royal fans smiling with their interactions.
